SEPARATING DOUGH

After kneading the dough, a piece is separated for the mitzvah of "Challah". A Bracha is said if we make almost 5lbs. of dough (4lbs. 15.2 oz. - 2.25kg) or more, but not if (it) is smaller. The Bracha is: Baruch...vetzivanu lehafrish challah (some add: min ha'isa). ( The piece that we separated ) is burned (not in the oven), or wrapped up and placed in the trash, or buried.
