PREPARING ONESELF FOR SHABBOS

"And you shall honor it (the Shabbos)" (Yeshayah 58:13). Our Sages say that this means we should not dress the same way on Shabbos as we do on weekdays. We wear different clothing or fresh, clean clothes on Shabbos. We put them on after we wash ourselves on Friday.

Washing Clothes: Ezra Ha-Sofer taught us that we should (wash) our Shabbos clothes on Thursday, because there are so many other things to do on Friday.
