CUTTING FINGERNAILS AND TOENAILS
As part of our preparations for Shabbos, we cut our fingernails and toenails. Some people have the custom of not cutting the toenails and fingernails on the same day. Instead, they cut the fingernails on Thursday and the toenails on Friday. Many follow the custom of cutting them in the following order: right hand -- finger numbers 2,4,1,3,5; left hand: finger numbers 4,2,5,3,1. Many people are careful not to let the nails fall (on the) floor. They either wash them down the drain, burn, or bury them. We wash our hands (Netilas Yadayim) after we cut our nails.
