THE SHABBOS TORAH READING

At the end of Shacharis, the Torah is taken out of the Aron Kodesh (the holy Ark in which the Torahs are kept) to read the weekly portion. People come over to greet and kiss it before it is placed on the Bimah. To show honor for the Torah, Gabbaim stand on both sides of the Ba'al Keriah who chants from the weekly Torah portion.
