SHMOS 15:5
The depths cover them, they sank to the bottem like a stone.  

Commentary
The Egyptians were stuck in the mud in order that the waters would return and cover them. As they were tossed about, the most wicked were treated like straw and were continually dashed around. The average Egyptian sank like a stone, suffering less agony. The best Egyptian (even the best Egyptian was still wicked) fell like lead, coming to rest quickly.(Rashi)
